Describe your role in 3 words

"Driven, dynamic, decisive."

What is important within your position?

"It's important to make the right decisions at the right times. Within this role, the key task is to strike a balance between customers' expectations and internal constraints. So you need to be aware of the different interests and make sure as best you can that the project is a success for both sides. During the course of the day, for example, I sit in many different meetings with both colleagues and customers. Having a critical eye and expressing your view is also an important part of this role. Within my team, I am known as 'Ask Alexis'. Colleagues regularly come to me when they need a second opinion."

What do you enjoy about your work?

"I have a passion for high-tech because it's part of our everyday lives. It isn't always visible to the naked eye, but our technology is reflected in everything around us. What I like about my job at VDL ETG Singapore is the fact that there is little hierarchy, which means that working together is commonplace. Everything is open for discussion. Colleagues can challenge each other in a professional way about any differences in ideas or opinions, so we can work together to achieve what’s best for the company. In addition, I am grateful that I have been able to grow professionally at VDL and progress to the position I have now, from program manager to manager."

What has been the highlight of your career?

"Through my work experience, I have had the opportunity to develop in various roles and make a positive impact in different areas. I have also been able to apply and increase my skills and knowledge in a variety of situations and projects. During that process, I have improved my leadership skills and have learned to be more assertive than before. So, I am proud to have been nominated as an ambassador for the role of program manager at VDL ETG Singapore."
